Acupressure for Nausea – simple and practical tips to ease your symptoms

Dr Bryan Articles

Acupressure is an effective and simple way to relieve nausea. Nausea can be related to pregnancy, a digestive condition, or a side effect of pharmaceuticals such as chemotherapy, among others. Whatever the underlying reason for your nausea, below you will find some simple techniques for relief.
Acupressure requires firm, circular movements on specific acupuncture points. You will know when you have the right point as the sensation will become more intense, and may travel up or down the limb. Each point occurs on both sides of the body, in the same location. Stimulate for a few minutes while focussing on deep breathing, then swap to the other side.
PERICARDIUM 6. This is the primary point for all nausea. It descends the Qi (energy flow) pericardium 6of the Stomach back to its correct direction – down! Found one hand width-below the wrist crease on the inside of the forearm, towards the elbow.
Kid 6KIDNEY 6. This is another important point for calming a funky stomach. It can be found on the inside of your ankle, one thumb-width below the ankle bone.

KIDNEY 27: This point can be found just under the collar bone on the pec area, 2 thumb widths kidney 27 out to the sternum. You’ll know this one when you feel it.

If you or a loved one are suffering nausea or morning sickness, come on in for acupuncture. We’ll do all we can to look after you and get you feeling better.
